“After I left Hope House, I noticed the liquor stores were becoming more beautiful. This is a beautiful liquor store, but it’s a dangerous place for me. And that’s because unlike some people, I can’t have a beer, I can’t have a drink, because one drink and my sobriety would be all gone, and that could set me another 10 years back out. I gotta stay away from the liquor store—even though it’s a pretty liquor store, it’s dangerous, for me or anyone in recovery.”
