About the Project

This photovoice project was a collaboration between Hope House, a ministry of Lawndale Community Church, and Wheaton College Graduate Psychology. The purpose of the project is to better understand community needs and resources in North Lawndale, so that better supports may be developed for adult men navigating social re-integration after substance addiction and/or incarceration. Community participants decided as a group to name our project “Break Every Chain”, a title they felt captured the experience of overcoming obstacles and experiencing new life in the recovery/reentry process.

The principal investigator is Anta Yu, Psy.D., who completed this project for her dissertation research. If you ever have any questions or concerns, Anta would love to speak with you at (630) 384-9575, or you may email her at wheaton email. Anta worked under the direction of Dr. Jana Pressley, Associate Professor of Psychology.

This project was approved by the Wheaton College Institutional Review Board (IRB) on Research Involving Human Subjects.
